Thank you to everyone who registered, fundraised and supported this year’s Race to Wrigley. We know the cancellation was disappointing, but the lightning and severe weather in the area made it unsafe to proceed. We are working to schedule a medal pickup and photo opportunity at Wrigley Field and will share details soon.

The decision had to be made before the scheduled start time, as runners were traveling to Wrigley Field and volunteers and staff were already preparing on site. At that time, active lightning strikes and the forecasted path of the storm created an unsafe environment. We know weather can change quickly but based on the information available when the decision was made, canceling the race was the safest course of action.
The safety of runners, volunteers and our staff is of utmost importance. “Rain or shine” means the race can proceed in ordinary rain. Unfortunately, there were active lightning ground strikes and dangerous weather showing on the radar that required the decision to shelter and cancel the event.
As outlined in the waiver accepted during registration, refunds are not issued when the event must be canceled due to weather. We understand how disappointing this is and did not make the decision lightly. Event preparations and expenses begin well in advance of race day and proceeds from the race directly support Cubs Charities programming. We are sincerely grateful for your participation and support.
All donations and funds raised will continue to support the Cubs Charities programs for which they were intended or Advocate Health Care if selected for your personal fundraising efforts. Thank you for helping us make a meaningful impact on communities across Chicago.
The will-call packet pickup fee is non-refundable. We will ship your race gear, including your medal, directly to you.
All registered virtual participants will receive their packets in the next 2-3 weeks as planned.

Stay tuned for 2027 registration details in the new year.
Proceeds from the race directly support Cubs Charities programming, and we are grateful for your support.
